The School situates on the bank of River Pampa just behind St. Joseph’s Church Chennamkary, and all the other sides are surrounded by paddy fields at Kuttanadu in Alappuzha District in Kearala, India.  One of the remotest and floodprone area, but the landscape and paddy fields are beautiful.

Towards the end of 19th centuary that is in 1899, our forefathers with their earnest longingness, they began a vernacular primary Grant School bearing the name of St Mary at Chennamakry.  Almost all children were studied in the school.  The school got recognition from Government only in 1909.  Rev. Fr. Antony P. K tried to establish it as a full primary.  But only in 1913 under the management of Rev. Fr. Thomas Chavara the dream flowered and formed as a full primary with Std V.  It continued as L.P till 1947.  In the very same year of independence the school was upgraded to a Middle School with 1st Forum.  With the hard endure of Rev. Fr. Joseph Moolamkunnam and renamed as Sr. Alphonsa School.   Rev. Fr. Joseph Kurumkattumoola and Sr. k. J Varghese were the first local manager and headmaster respectively.  It became a full U.P School during the period of Rev. Sr. Mary Eymadu SABS in 1950.

Rev. Fr. Joseph Moolamkunnam Rev. Fr. Antony Elayachemkalam who were backbone of the school tried to upgrade it to a High School.  With the effort of Sri. Cherian Thommy Palathara, the trustee of St. Joseph’s Church, Chennamkary, the first headmaster Sri. P.J Joseph Kollamparampil and the restless work of there eminent Rev. Fathers the school was upgraded as High School in the year 1966.  His Grace Archbishop MAR MATHEW KAVUKATTU inaugurated the High School on July 3rd 1966.  The presence of the Rev. Fathers of the Orthodox Church, and the leaders of all religious were memorable.  Students of every caste and religion were admitted in the school.  The first SSLC batch appeared for the examination on 1969 March.  For their great joy they got 87% result.  .2010 March SSLC batch acheived 100% result. The result of SSLC retained above 95% till now
